Internet Dating

A paper cut editorial for an article about internet dating - 'euphemisms such as 'drinks socially'
(ie, alcoholic); 'voluptuous' (recently had stomach stapled); and 'adventurous' (pervert).

Ugly Men

A short series of portraits drawn with dip pen from memory. These are men that I know, specifically Iranian men,  however, I purposely exaggerated the features in order to create an ugly image, instead of a flattering one. I did this because these portraits were used to illustrate Iran's patriarchal society.

Portfolio

This is some of my favourite work from my portfolio. The first two images are drawn with biro, and the 'heads' of the birds are Iranian stamps which I believe to be at least twenty years old. I love how vibrant the colours are still, today. The imagery of the bird with the Ayatollah is a play on Iran's attitudes to freedom, and what it means over there, something I'm very interested in, being half Iranian myself.

The second two are outcomes from a self initiated project. I first came to learn about automatic drawing whilst on art foundation, and the idea of it really interested me. Also, as mentioned in my previous post, I became obsessed with paper cuts and using my scalpel to draw, so I decided to create a series of automatic papercuts, and I came up with this double A1 spread. I love the idea of illustration being fun and playful, and I feel that this comes across in this piece of work.

Summer Project

I have just started at Camberwell College of Arts, studying on the Fda Ilustration (for Sequence and Interaction). For my Summer project I was asked to create a book which represented my current self. These are the first four pages of my book. My book is made entirely out of papercuts, due to my obsession with Rob Ryan, Hans Christian Andersen and Peter Callesen.
